Crunching leaves, crisp air, and endless adventures — fall is the perfect time to get outside! Kids meet once a week (per age group) on Wednesday's for hikes, games, and nature-based activities. Sign up for the full six-week semester or join us as a drop-in explorer.
Full six-week semester dates: October 13th to November 21st
- Sprouts (ages 5-6) every Monday
- Saplings (ages 7-8) every Tuesday
- Buds (ages 9-11) every Wednesday
- Blossoms (ages 12-14) every Thursday
We will complete one hike every day outside, with one activity block built into the afternoon to further encourage connection to the outdoors.
Hiking locations (1x/week):
- Rock Creek Park
- Great Falls Park
- Theodore Roosevelt Island
- Turkey Run Park
Activities vary by day, age & group interest, all rooted in discovery, problem-solving, and creativity:
- Trail bingo, scavenger hunts, "build-a-story" time while we hike, animal charades and more!
- Arts & crafts including making nature collages, building beetle forts, and mud painting
- Enrichment opportunities to explore the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, U.S. Botanic Garden, and the National Museum of Natural History
Schedule outline below (*timing will vary by location/day):
1:40pm // Location School pick-up to start
2:15pm-2:30pm // Arrive at the hike of the day!
2:30pm-5:30pm // Hike + Activity, or Enrichment Activity for the day
5:30pm-6:00pm // Head back to drop-off location
6:00pm // Drop-off & parent pick-off
